"Gain" gets used in a lot of ways these days. But that's not the word I mean.

To me, gain is what you carry forward. It's wisdom handed down without ever being written in a book. It's a faith that holds steady through the years nobody's watching. It's a relationship that outlasts everything else. It's a legacy someone else can stand on, long after you're gone.

I've spent my life around people who understood this — in classrooms, in community, in quiet everyday moments. The ones who left the deepest mark weren't chasing more. They were planning well for what actually lasts.
